Man and van in Slough
Two crew and a van for the jobs a full removal would overserve. A room out of a shared house in Chalvey, a sofa down from a Langley flat, a single heavy item, a part-load that has to clear before somebody checks the property. It is the most-booked job in the SL postcodes and the one most often needed at short notice.

What this is right for
Up to roughly a one-bedroom flat. Room moves out of the shared houses around Chalvey and the town centre, which is a large part of what we do. A collection from a unit on the Trading Estate that needs two people rather than a courier. A single heavy item — a wardrobe, a range cooker, a three-seater that will not go down the stairs on its own.
It is also right for the tail of a bigger move: the things that did not fit, the garage that got left, the second run to the storage container.
What it is wrong for
A whole house. People book man and van for a three-bed to save money and end up paying for three trips and a twelve-hour day, which costs more than the removal would have. At survey we will tell you which side of that line you are on, plainly.
It is also wrong when access is genuinely hard at both ends and there is a lot to move. A third-floor walk-up to another third-floor walk-up needs crew and a plan, not two people being optimistic.
Where the van can stop, and why it matters more here
On a full removal the vehicle stands for hours and the parking is arranged. On a man-and-van job the whole value is speed, so where we can stop determines what it costs you.
In Cippenham, Britwell and most of the estates there is a drive and the question does not arise. In Chalvey and the terraces there is rarely a free metre, and the honest answer is sometimes that things get carried from round the corner. Around the station and in the town centre it is a loading bay with a time limit.
Tell us the street when you enquire, not just the postcode. We know which ones are fine and which ones add half an hour of carrying, and that is the difference between an accurate quote and a surprise.
Short notice, honestly
Midweek we can often help within the same week. Fridays and the last few days of a month are the hardest, because that is when every tenancy in town ends at once.
Ask and we will tell you what we actually have. Taking a booking we cannot staff properly helps nobody, least of all somebody with a check-out at ten in the morning.

Is it really two people?
Yes. A job quoted for one that turns out to need two goes badly for everyone. If your load genuinely is a few boxes, say so and we will scale the job to it.

Can you come this week?
Often midweek. Ask rather than assume — we would rather tell you we are full than take the booking and let you down on a check-out day.

Do I need to help carry?
No. The job is quoted on us doing the work. Nobody will stop you helping, but you are not expected to.

Will you take a single item to London or Reading?
Yes, that is an ordinary job from here — the M4 is on the doorstep. For longer distances, ask about a part-load on a route we are already running; it is often cheaper.

Can you clear rubbish at the same time?
A drop at a charity shop or the recycling centre, yes. Licensed waste clearance needs a waste carrier, and where that is genuinely what you need we will tell you rather than take the money.
